Boonie Mayfield – „Black Koolaid“ (Free Soul / HipHop Instrumental Mixtape)
Mit das Fresheste, was mir die letzet Zeit untergekommen ist: Boonie Mayfield aus Denver/Colorado. Sein aktuellstes Werk nennt sich „Black Koolaid“ und hat Alles, was ein gutes HipHop-Instrumental braucht, vor allen Dingen aber: Soul. Kenner werden verstehen, was ich meine, das hier ist ein absoluter Übertip, auf jeden Fall checken! Straflich von ihm, dass er das gesamte Soundcloud-Set nicht zum Einbinden anbietet, daher hier nur ein youtube-Flick für den ersten Eindruck – das und der DL-Link nach dem Jump:
„Soul is a term that a lot of producers seem keen to have associated with their music – browse any repository’s soul section and you’ll find a glut of music that… well, isn’t soul. We’re not purists per se, but I do think it’s a bit of a stretch to call hip hop beats with soul samples soul. When Boonie Mayfield calls himself a Hip Hop and Soul producer however, he means it in the truest sense of the word.“
