„Dust & Wind“ – New Black Watercolor Paintings of Kids with Animals by Indonesian Artist Elicia Edijanto

Im Januar des vergangenen Jahres konnte uns der im im indonesischen Jakarta ansässige Künstler Elicia Edijanto mit einer Reihe von Artworks begeistern. In der grandios minimalistischen Serie „Kids and Animals“ wird bekanntlich in Form von Watercolor-Paintings, die besondere Beziehung von Menschen im Kindesalter zu Tieren auf extrem atmosphärische Weise von Edijanto thematisiert. Die monochromen Artworks zeigen Kinder in Begleitung diverser Tiere wie Elefanten, Wölfen oder Bären. There’s an innate relationship between children and the animal kingdom. Our children sing songs about animals, they have toy animals, they have books about animals and they dream about animals. Capturing this unique connection is Indonesian artist Elicia Edijanto, who depicts small, vulnerable children alongside creatures of the wild like elephants, wolves and bears. Created in stark black and white imagery, and using only watercolors, Edijanto creates dreamlike-scenes that are both tranquil and contemplative.
