Es ist jetzt auch schon wieder drei Jahre her, dass Gallant sein Debüt-Album „Ology“ veröffentlicht hat, endlich gibt es wieder etwas Neues: hier ist „Sweet Insomnia“. Es verfügt über dreizehn neue Tracks, darunter „Sharp Edges“ und auch „Compromise“ mit Sabrina Claudio, wir hatten es hier bereits. Es gibt noch ein Feature von 6LACK zum Titeltrack – auf jeden fall unser Album des Tages:

„I called the album Sweet Insomnia because, lyrically, every song on the album is bittersweet, nothing is 100 percent positive and lighthearted. Nothing is 100 percent brooding and cynical. It’s very balanced and real, like an unretouched photo. The „insomnia“ comes from the fact that I was working on the album from 1 p.m. to 6-7 p.m., then I’d come home to try to get the vocals right from 8 p.m. to 4 in the morning … I got locked in that cycle to the point where, sonically, the album started feeling a little bit hazier.“ – Gallant
