#GetUpNY – Instagram Photos Pop Up As Street Art All Across Manhattan

Unter dem Namen „Get Up NY“ pflastert ein anonymes Street Art-Kollektiv aktuell ganz Manhattan mit gedruckten Instagram-Aufnahmen im Posterformat. Die Gruppe transportiert quasi digitale Bilder in die reale Welt und platziert diese, an Orten mit Bezug zum Motiv oder direkt am unmittelbaren Entstehungsplatz des Snapshots. Partizipieren kann an der Aktion jeder, der seine Aufnahmen aus dem Big Apple mit dem Hashtag #GetUpNY versieht. Die Artists selbst, ließen über Ihr Projekt Folgendes verlauten: „We want to bring people’s art to the streets, making it accessible for everyone to see. We’re drawn to images that push boundaries and are unique. We also love that by combining their Instagrams and placing them around New York, #GetUpNY is making a completely new story and image.“

Fancy seeing your Instagram pictures in real life, printed and pasted all over New York City? That’s precisely what Get Up NY, an interactive street art campaign, is starting to do all across Manhattan. The group — whose members remain anonymous for obvious reasons — creates posters of images uploaded to Instagram with the hashtag #GetUpNY, and then sticks the printouts in places that are meaningful to that image or near to where the original photo was captured. For a chance to have your own photos printed and shared across the Big Apple, simply use the hashtag #GetUpNY on your own Instagram pics.
