Soul-Sides.com presents: O-Dub – „Cool“ (Summerish HipHop Mixtape)
Auch wenn der Sommer hier im norddeutschen Flachland dieses Jahr keinen Bock hat: hier kommt das Mixtape des Tages, welches vielleicht trotzdem für ein kleines bißchen Natur Vitamin B3 sorgt, hier ist Oliver „O-Dub“ Wang, Betreiber Betreiber von Soul Sides und Soziologieprofessor, mit seinem grandiosen „Cool“-Mixtape. Das Gros dieses Mixes wurde eigentlich schon im letzten Jahr fertiggestellt, es fehlte lediglich ein bißchen an Feinschliff. Das wurde jetzt nachgeholt, hier ist „Cool“ – und der Name ist Programm. Es gibt sehr viel guten Oldschool-Shit von Lord Finesse, The Beatnuts, 45 King, Mos Def, Masta Ace, Lords of the Underground, Public Enemy, Jay-Z und vielen mehr. Entspannte HipHop-Classics, die man sehr lange nicht mehr gehört hat, geht zumindest mir so. Cool:
„I finished most of this last summer; it was meant to be a summery vibe mix but by the time I actually had the finishing touches applied…it was close to winter and I figured, heck, I’ll just wait until things thaw out again. I hadn’t made a purely hip-hop-centric mix in years and I don’t know why I don’t do this more. I had so much fun picking through songs and putting this together and more importantly, that aforementioned vibe is something I never get tired of listening to.“
