„Stranger Tales: The Second Season“ – Vintage Illustrationen von Butcher Billy
Einige sehenswerte Arbeiten des brasilianischen Künstlers Butcher Billy haben wir in den letzten Jahren bereits an dieser Stelle präsentiert. Unter Umständen erinnert Ihr Euch noch an seine American Psycho Inspired Artworks, „Dead Rockers, Modern Times“ oder „Bukowski: The Pop Art Series“, welche bekannte Zitate des legendären Schriftstellers Charles Bukowski im Pop Art-Gewand präsentierte. Heute gibt’s ein kleines Update aus der kreative Küche des Butcher Billy. „Stranger Tales: The Second Season“ so der Titel seiner aktuellen Artworks. Ganz offensichtlich hat sich auch der Künstler aus Curitiba ebenfalls vom aktuellen Hype um die 2.Staffel der Netflix-Erfolgsserie „Stranger Things“ anstecken lassen. Seine Artworks zu diesem Thema kommen wie alte Roman-Cover von Stephen King daher. Er selbst ließ zu der Reihe verlauten: Atari video games, Stephen King pulp paperbacks, Eerie comic books, Dario Argento B-Horror movies, MTV punks… these are some of the stranger things of the 80’s!
Stranger Things 2, have you watched it yet? This is again a SPOILER FREE feature! I truly loved the second season and I am currently re-watching the first season since it’s just that good. For the occasion, I stumbled across this very cool illustration series by Butcher Billy. He did indeed re-create the style and tribute to the 80s with the textures, typography and of course the illustrations. I absolutely love that he also applied the very same stylish treatment to Atari cartridges.
Butcher Billy is a designer/illustrator based in Curitiba, Brazil. He definitely has a distinctive style of illustration that might remind you from the comics of your childhood.
