“Le colosse aux pieds d’argile” – Street Art-Duo Monkeybird mit gigantischem Mural in Paris

Im letzten Sommer stolperten wir im Rahmen des Grenoble Street Art Fest erstmals über das Künstler Duo „Monkeybird“ aus dem französischen Bordeaux. Neben den von uns hart verehrten Artists Seth Globepainter und Lonac, steuerten dem Projekt nämlich auch besagte Herrschaften names Blow the Bird & Temor ein wirklich gigantisch daherkommendes Stück Wallart (Feature) bei. Bereits seit 2010 leben die beiden ihre immense Kreativität in Stencils, Collages, Murals, Drawings oder Carvings aus. Für unser heutiges Mural des Tages sind Monkeybird ebenfalls verantwortlich, denn in Paris entstand kürzlich mit „Le colosse aux pieds d’argile“ (z.dt.= Der Koloss mit Tonfüßen) erneut ein atemberaubend gigantisches Mural auf 20 x 7 Metern. Zu ihrem großformatig angelegten Artwork, dass in Kooperation mit der Nanterre University & dem Musée du Louvre entstand, ließen die Künstler das Folgende verlauten:

This project born for the 50th anniversary of May 1968 (Nanterre University it’s was a crucial place for the philosophy of May 1968). The goal for this project was to use art piece from the Louvre. For this we used a lot of fragments of the statue from this museum (Venus de Milo, Hannibal, Les 4 Captifs…) and this is our representation about evolution of culture and the importance of the exchange between culture, this statue represents our collective memory, the top is the past and the bottom is our generation. Social challenges give rise to new cultural movements.
